The UN Environment Programme estimates that the fashion industry produces 20% of global wastewater and 10% of global carbon emissions. Textile dyeing is the second largest polluter of water globally.

Of the 53 million tonnes of textiles produced globally every year, over 75% are discarded. ...equivalent to one rubbish truck going into landfill every second.

The global fashion industry is producing over 100 billion garments a year made from materials of unclear origins, by a workforce that is often inadequately paid, in disconnected, inefficient often unsustainable and exploitative supply chains to feed our apparently insatiable 'consumer demand'.

By 2050 the fashion industry will use up a quarter of the world’s carbon budget.

Textile dyeing is the second largest polluter of water globally and it takes around 2,000 gallons of water to make a typical pair of jeans.

When we say 2000 gallons of water that doesn't mean the water is used up but that it has been contaminated with pesticides and toxic dyes. Try and buy organic cotton to avoid this environmental problem of recycling toxic waste into our water cycle - running into rivers and oceans and raining back down on us. Try to wash your clothes less to reduce microfibres ending up in the water too.

You can make a difference. Love your old clothes and remake them into something new, original and unique.

Let your clothes tell their story, woven with tales from the past.
